Early voting will begin Wednesday, January 16 and continue through Thursday, January 31, 2008 at the Clinton Community Center, Emory Valley Center and the Norris Community Center. Early voting hours will be 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays and 9 a.m. to 12 on Saturdays.
Note: The February election is a primary election. In Tennessee, we have an “open” or “pick-a-party” primary election. A registered voter may vote in only one primary on Election Day. Tennessee voters do not pre-register with a party before the primary. You must choose which party primary you wish to vote in as you cannot “crossover” or vote in both. Some people may want to select a person of one party for President and a person of the other party for a local office. That is not allowed in Tennessee. You must choose either the Democrat or Republican primary.
When you vote in February, the workers will ask you in which primary you wish to vote. While it may seem frustrating, we will need to know which primary you choose to vote in.
Any independent candidates will skip the February primary and be placed on the general election ballot.
